Ann, in all her good ideas and fundamental misunderstandings of strength, drags Akira to the park and tells him she's going to train herself to let insults roll off of her back. She encourages Akira to insult her.
He breaks her concentration by complimenting her instead.
After that failed round of attacks, Ann dives into her background a little bit. She once lived in Finland! Her parents are gone for over half the year and are major fashion designers! She considers modeling as a way of connecting with them even though they're not there, though she doesn't think she'd want to make a life out of it.
There is a minor bit here about models getting wrong times and dates for their shoots, noted at the bottom of an email she's received from her agency.
this video, starting from start point until 16:46, since Ann is pretending to be asleep for part of it.
Excluding from 11:17 until 15:00.
SUMMARY:
North, Fox, Boss/Mars, some unknown blond dude, and a cat are discussing targets, but Ann shifts the conversation once it becomes apparent that 1) Fox is hungry and 2) Fox is bad at managing his money. She takes the opportunity to suggest that they all have Hot Pot to welcome Boss/Mars to his new apartment.
After that, they have a nice, pleasant meal that... well. Ann single handedly cooks. And she then starts to fall asleep, but listening to the chatter pulls her back to the conversation. Just with her eyes closed.
The blond kid explains that Ann never had many friends, because she grew up overseas, and something about her looks... "The popular kids hate her, and the quiet ones stay away."
What starts out as a conversation wondering if they'll be okay if they keep doing the Phantom Thieves gig between Ryuji, Mona, Akira, and Ann, ends as a nasty conversation between Ryuji, Ann, and Makoto.
Ann isn't sure if they should keep going as the Phantom Thieves, after lecturing Ryuji for being too loud, and not sharing any of her food. But then Makoto takes a surprise picture of them all together, and insinuates they're hiding something. Ann, mad, accuses Makoto of doing anything to get ahead, even ignoring the troubles of her peers. Makoto then snaps back, asking Ann what she did for her friend, since she was closer to the situation.
Ann swears there wasn't anything she could do by herself, losing her temper at Makoto. Once she leaves, Ann tells them she'd be ashamed to stop working as a Phantom Thief now.
This just gives her a lot of context for 1) her friends back home, so all the PTs and 2) What her life was like, in a non-normal sense. Basically, she's just getting caught up on the team feeling between friends.
Ann describes this in game, and I'm too lazy to find it, BUT, essentially:
1) Ann was ostracized at school for being "different." In this case, for being very obviously a foreigner. 2) She was drawing a picture by herself in art class in middle school and Shiho approached her. 3) Shiho told her her picture looked awful. 4) They became fast friends after that, because Shiho talked to her in the first place.
- The thieves go to a fancy buffet under Ann's suggestion. And the food is amazing! Most of this is them talking about how amazing the food is. - Though they do talk about how happy people are about Kamoshida. Ann says, "I was just desperate to solve my own problems, but seeing how it helped everyone else is... amazing." - Ryuji and Akira even eat way too much, as Ann gently mocks them by suggesting the tart (and refusing to help because she's "too stuffed.") - Then the visit goes sour. Ann has a run-in with a woman who bumps into her and then blames her for her plate being dropped, earning the disapproving stare of all the workers. - And the boys have their own run in, which Ann just hears about. - After that, Ryuji mentions maybe... keeping the Phantom Thieves together? Not just for Kamoshida? - They all agree. And decide they'll start looking for a new target.
- Some chatter of what they have to do. - Gets the codenames "Skull", "Joker", and "Mona." - She discovers that she gave herself the callsign Panther. - And that Akira is terrible at this.
Ryuji's plan to get a letter of introduction to "Mr. Shido" seems to involve the girls showing off their..... assets. Unfortunately, no one counts on the fact that this guy is obsessed with ancestry. It looks like they might not be able to get the letter-- until Ann realizes she has one key fact: she doesn't look Japanese. She immediately uses that with a terrible British accent to convince the man that she's actually a descendent of the Windsor family on her father's side.
It absolutely works-- but then he starts to try and pull her away with him into his room to get on more "intimate terms." At this point, once he won't take "no" for an answer, Ann calls him a creep and tells him she's done using him. And then announces to the whole boat that he's a molestor.
It's at that point their phantom thieves outfits come back-- and there's a fight she juuuuust misses at the end of this memory.
Ann's awakening. Ann is captured by Kamoshida and doesn't understand her situation at all. So she starts talking back to him-- and gets thrown off eventually by his cognitive version of her. Then Kamoshida admits that because Ann refused to sleep with him, he decided to make her best friend take her place.
Ann about gives up at that moment, sinking into guilt and misery because of what Kamoshida had done, and blaming herself.
Akira encourages her to fight back, and it's at that moment that she finds her persona, and makes a contract with Carmen. Ann rips off her mask, and makes Kamoshida's underlings pay while he runs away. This includes the fight that happens after it.
